Job: Banquet Captain

Atlantic City Country Club, NJ's oldest and most prestigious golf, banquet and restaurant is seeking an experienced banquet captain. This historic venue offers an elegant banquet setting overlooking our award-winning golf course and picturesque views of the Atlantic City skyline.

Position Overview:

  • Oversee and coordinate the planning, organizing and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives in guest service & satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation. Needs to be able to oversee functions and have the ability to read BEOS. Must be able to work with Catering and Culinary to ensure all events are executed at a high level to ensure we meet the client’s expectations.

Position Qualifications: 

  • Candidate must have prior Banquet experience and the desire to create the ultimate dining experience. Must have excellent people and management skills. Candidate must have ability to stay calm in stressful situations. Must be able to communicate effectively both with the banquet staff, Mangers and Culinary. Must be able to lead by example and create an enthusiastic working environment. Candidate must have flexible work schedule as well as work holidays.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Be the resident expert on the order of service for any event.
  • Know the specifics of every Banquet Event Order (BEO).
  • Be able to lead and conduct departmental meetings such as pre-meal and post-meal briefings.
  • Be able to read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and follow instructions from Banquet Manager.
  • Be prepared to lead and supervise banquet and lead housemen, banquet bartenders, and banquet servers in all aspects of providing items listed on all BEOs.
  • Organize and lead the Pre-Meal and Post-Meal Briefings, as directed.
  • Participate in leading and setting events up including moving tables, setting tables and chairs, buffet set-up, bar set-up, side stands set-up, tray stand placement and set-up, etc.
  • Prepare for the function as appropriate, including, but not limited to sample place and table settings, condiments identification and preparation, anticipating beverage needs, etc.
  • Be able to assign service stations to banquet servers, anticipating good, balanced working teams.
  • Coordinate the opening of the event room doors with the client and ensure the servers are in their stations, ready to warmly welcome guests and helping them get seated.
  • Establish the Order of Service as directed by the Banquet Manager. Maintain event timing to ensure service occurs properly and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain open communication with the Banquet Manager, letting him/her know immediately of any changes or needs.
  • Ensure all assigned side work is completed before leaving. Complete pre-work needed for future events.
  • Supervise and check the clean up after all functions; vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, clearing dishes from tables, re-organization of the back aisle or staging areas as assigned, ensure all equipment and supplies are put away in their proper storage areas.
  • Assist the Banquet Manager as directed.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • High school or equivalent education required.
  • Two years of banquet service experience.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 pounds.

Job: Housemen/Clubhouse Attendant

New Jersey’s famed and historic Atlantic City Country Club is seeking houseman/clubhouse attendant for full-time position. Responsibilities include:

  • Set up and break down for banquet and event functions
  • Moving supplies & office equipment to locations throughout the facility as needed
  • Taking out trash, tidying furniture and dusting surfaces
  • Sweep and mop floors and vacuum carpets
  • Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap)
  • Wipe mirrors and windows
  • Report major damages
  • Other duties as required by your supervisor

Must have night, weekend and holiday availability as schedule will be based on business demand. Similar experience preferred. Tech savvy helpful. Ability to lift 50 lbs required

Duties & Responsibilities: Successful candidates will have a strong work ethic and be responsible for setting up tables/bar, delivering food and beverages, ensuring areas are clean and tidy, maintaining stock levels and restaurant or banquet set up. Also responsible for the following:

Restaurant Severs:
 * Meeting and greeting guests
 * Taking orders
 * Using POS machines for bill payments
 * Clearing tables/bar

 Banquet Servers:
 * Set-up and break-down of banquet: tables, linens, chairs, silverware, centerpieces, glassware, etc.
 *Fill water, wine and coffee cups/glasses
 *Serve dinner
 *Provide guests with exceptional customer service by attending to their needs

 Education, Qualifications and Experience for both restaurant and banquet servers:
 * A minimum of two years experience in a similar restaurant and/or banquet setting
 * Exceptional communication skills and great customer service skills
 * A positive, punctual and professional approach
 * Excellent floor craft
 * Superior food and beverage knowledge.
