A MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
MEMBERSHIP IS CHANGING
We have officially closed the membership at Atlantic City CC. If you are reading this, that means you are in and part of a great community that is becoming much more exclusive. Rumors are abound and we have some BIG plans ahead, if you, as members, are willing to commit and take a chance on something new. We will be sending out information soon enough to test the temperature of the water….
At this time, Scotland Run GC and Ballamor GC are still accepting Dual Members only. We continue to push and grow that membership in an effort to provide what we plan on providing at Atlantic City CC next year, if you want it.
In the meantime, I’m stating the obvious to make a point. We have three great golf courses and they are all completely different. If you play either Atlantic City CC or Scotland Run GC regularly, you’ve already heard me or the staff suggest taking your game on the road to Ballamor GC whenever possible. That is going to be a theme this year. Every time an Atlantic City CC or Scotland Run GC member goes to Ballamor GC it opens up a spot for another member to play. I’m not asking you not to play your home club, that’s why you joined. I’m just asking you to think of your fellow members and rotate occasionally to another course.
The future looks bright for all of Ottinger Golf. Atlantic City CC is full with members again, just like it was always meant to be. Scotland Run GC is not too far behind. So, tell your friends to get in on the best deal in town before it’s gone.
As always, please keep your suggestions coming, my door is always open.
- Mike Burke, Director of Golf
Quickly off topic, we are currently working on an update to the Members Only page to allow for single sign-on. Right now there are three different areas you need a username and password; to book a tee time, the payment portal and event registration powered by Golf Genius. The change will allow you to sign-in once before accessing the Members Only page and behind the scenes you will be logged into all three areas. Golf is hard enough, no reason to make booking a tee time or registering for an event hard too!
We will continue to drive home using this page for everything you need to know about upcoming Member Events. Our current event list, including the Member-Guests, are listed throughout the year and we will send out emails as registration becomes live for each event. Current events live for registration include:

ALL BUTTONED UP
It was a long winter at Scotland Run GC. We were snow covered the month of February which really put a damper on our plans and timing. The back tee box on #15 was dug out, we added new soil and amendments and finished sodding. We softened the mound on the right side of #14 green to help air flow. All projects which would have been finished in March are finally now completed. We are now waiting on the sod to root on #15 tee box before we open it up for the season.
I would also like to apologize for the aerification of the greens being moved back to mid-April instead of the end of March. Our Irrigation pumps needed to be removed and repaired because the wear on the pumps was causing them to slip and lose pressure. This was a big undertaking that required a crane to remove the pumps from the pumphouse in #13. Of course, like everything these days, the repairs were then delayed as parts were not readily available due to COVID.
But we are now finished and ready for the season and before you know it everything will be healed and the course will be ready for birdies! (or doubles if that’s more up your alley…)

SUMMER IS COMING - HOUSE OF BEAUMONT
The old saying is, March comes in like a lion, and out like a lamb. But here at Atlantic City CC we need to move that “saying” forward one month. It seems like April comes in like a lion. This Spring has been a little slow to warm up, and the wind has really put some teeth into the course over the last month.
A lot has happened since my last correspondence. We have opened the grass tees on the range and opened the newly renovated 13th tee boxes. We have also spotted the return of our old friend – the bunker rake! At all three courses we have put the bunker rakes back around greenside bunkers and that means the rules have changed.
Like fixing ball marks and replacing divots, one big favor I ask on behalf of all the superintendents, please do not walk up the bunker faces. It’s something you will never see a Tour player do on TV, simple course etiquette. Doing so pushes all the bunker sand down the face and leaves huge footprints, which requires us to spend extra time moving sand around every day. Instead enter and exit the bunkers at the lowest point. Remember, there is always another member behind you on the course!
Thank you and hit them low and straight!

SAY GOODBYE TO THE MATS!
The next time you come to the course, stop by the driving range and see what we’ve been up to. I know how much everybody loves to hit off the old range mats but it was time for them to go….forever. We’ve had a continuous tee line installed in place of the range mats. I think you will find that it is a dramatic improvement. It is much more forgiving surface to hit off and you may already be familiar with it if you have used the tee line at Scotland Run. One of the features I like is that you can use a regular tee when you’re ready to hit bombs!
